This page is dedicated to DELL In Car laptop chargers and we aim to answer many of the commonly asked questions about DELL chargers. The Dell laptop (and its rebrandeds and clones) is one of the most common laptops in the world! So why is there such an abundance of variation on their chargers? To make you buy it from Dell at DellBoy Prices!
We have identified 7 common Dell Connectors (there may be more).
2 Are Round Hollow Barrel Type Connectors: Sizes below are diameteres in millimetres.

2 of the 7 ARE NOT Round but squarish 3 pin (PA-2, PA-6, PA-9, ... - These are the most common connectors for DELL laptops - NOTE: The 3-Pin connectors look the same size BUT they are not and will not fit the wrong model! The 18.5v 3.8a is a different size connector to the 20v 3.5a!
PA-10 PA-12 PA-13 PA-15 which are round barrel type with centre pin.
ADP-50SB 19v 2.64a has a flat rectangular 3-pin connector.
Next to consider is the OUTPUT i.e. the voltage and amperage (capacity) - Most Dells are either 18.5v or 20v (but not all) and the amperage varies between 3.5a and 3.8a (some older ones may need less amps and some very new ones may need more amps).

Dell, bless them, call nearly all their Chargers "Universal" they do not mean that it is "Universal" in the context that we use the term Universal! (we us the term "Universal" to mean that the charger will fit many different laptops and has changeable connectors) They, Dell, mean that the charger will work in some other countries (i.e 100v output - as well as 240v output for UK).
So what about actual Universals - will they fit Dells? I have never seen a Universal that would fit ALL Dells! At best some may fit the round pin Dells - BUT - Most Universals only Output 2.5a or less - Most Dells Require 3.5a!
Don't Gamble buy one from us! We get it right 99% of the time! If we get it wrong we will exchange the charger AND refund your postage! Then we will update our brains and our extensive database so that we will not repeat our error! Most suppliers will not exchange a charger if it is incompatible with your laptop- they believe it is your fault, not theirs!
