Thanks for your help - I previously bought a charger from ********** who advertise them for £39.99 - the truth was £39.99 + £8.65 postage + £12.99 for a power lead a total of £61.63 or £72.41 with vat PLUS 3% for using a credit card .... £75 quid! Worse the one free power tip did not fit and it cost me nearly £10, with postage, for the correct one. Delivery was slow and the £39.99 had turned into £85 ..... pure magicians. I buy and sell laptops and will buy my chargers from you in the future. My charger arrived next day and the total cost was £39! Your £39 UK manufactured charger was only half the price of the £39.99 one AND much better quality. Thanks, Jerry.

You sold me a genuine Samsung charger for £55 - it died after three weeks! I expected you to tell me to send it back to Samsung but you posted me a compatible one the same day! Just to let you know that the Tiny (Time) adaptor arrived yesterday morning and what's more it works perfectly! I'm very grateful to have discovered your company (via Google). Q. Hi all, I bought a new charger for my laptop (HP compaq nx9020) from another supplier (not www.laptop-chargers.co.uk). The problem is that the charger works, but becomes very hot after a short period of use. My original charger used to be warm during use and only started to become very hot when it became faulty. My husband thinks it's okay and that it should get hot, but I'm worried that it may damage the laptop. Can someone offer me some advise please?
A. Hi, Laptop chargers become hot because of the amps drawn from the adaptor by the laptop. If you use a higher amp/watts adaptor it will run cooler and last longer! Using always on Broadband, wireless and USB devices will increase the amps/watts demand on the charger as will using the laptop as a substitute desktop PC. The truth is laptop manufacturers skimp on adaptor/charger spec! Skimp on spec enables a smaller, cheaper adaptor and an annual customer for a new adaptor! Remember watts = amps x volts - many manufacturers are now supplying laptops with 65w adaptors and these are underpowered. A 90w adaptor is not much more expensive and there is probably one to fit your model! Remember any device will only draw the amps it needs to function. The voltage should be the recommended voltage + or - 0.5v (or up to 1.5v with some high quality variable adaptors). For laptops that we know are originally supplied with an underpowered adaptor we always supply an upgraded higher powered one - commonly we supply 65w for all 60w and 90w for all 70w and 80w laptops - but we also supply 90w for some 65w models and 120w for some 90w models. It's in our own interest to do this because of our 12mth same day replacement policy and anyway, a happy customer is often a repeat purchaser!
